I'm rooting for the Subarus in both categories, though my guess is the Prius will win cause no one cares it sucks to drive.

Many excellent contenders, especially in the car section. However I believe the new VW Golf deserves the honours not only because of the quality of the vehicles but also the range available. The new diesel engine now available in the Jetta is more economical in the Golf. A less resource user than any Hybrid along with better drivablity this model I predict, will be very popular because of its adequate size and relative low cost compared to other diesels. The GTI and the regular gas engined cars offer excellent alternatives. The only downside is that the Diesel wagon is from the previous generation and is therefore not as up to date as the rest of the range.
