A Corvette So Bad, It Almost Makes Us Hate Star Wars

Some have speculated that Mark Hamill’s lack of silver screen success after the Star Wars movies was a classic case of the actor’s being pigeon-holed as the tow-headed Jedi Hero, Luke Skywalker. We propose that it had more to do with role choices like the one in Corvette Summer. Thank the Hollywood gods that this duffer of a film wasn’t enough to burry Annie Potts though, we love us some Designing Women.

On a slightly more serious note though, we’d like to challenge our readers to come up with a worse looking Corvette body kit than the one seen in this movie. No mean feat, to be sure. Post an image of the worst Vette you can find, and we’ll pick a winner tomorrow. Happy hunting.

Mystery solved!
A couple weeks ago I saw Star Wars I on TV; first repeat for me since it was released in the '70s.
It has not aged well!! Boring. Needed about 40 minutes cut-out. Can't believe how bad it was compared to my memory. The fantastic success seems to have been due solely to it's timing; the first big-buck Comic-Book style saga bringing modern Hollywood production values to a classic Space Serial like Flask Gordon (and the acting was better than Flash Gordon...at least on the part of Fisher and Ford). (I was struck, however, with the fact that George Lucas had quite obviously ripped-off Doug Adams' "Hitch-hikers Guide to the Universe"!!! I'm sure there was a secret legal settlement involved there.)
"What ever happened to Mark Hammil"? was another question that came to mind. Drugs? Burn-out? Suicide?
Looks like it was worse than I could have imagined; his agent cast him second to the worst styled car to ever come out of GM (if you discount the Trans-Ams with the hideous hood graphics). Corvette Summer must have been his last public appearance. Suspect he left the country after that and took-up residence with Robert Vesco in Cuba, hiding from Federal Warrants for BAD TASTE.

Ducati Minor

Mark Hamill has had a busier career than people give him credit for. Corvette Summer deserves to be the butt of jokes because it is such a bad film, but Hamill has had a long career in voice work in animation: Batman, Spider-Man, Codename: Kids Next Door, Justice League, Robot Chicken, Avatar: The Airbender, and Metalocalypse.
