Acura Claims New NSX Will Be Quicker than the Nissan GT-R
Honda has boldly stated that its replacement for the Acura NSX will be faster than the famed Nissan GT-R. Like the old NSX, the new model will be sold exclusively through Acura in the U.S. and is expected to arrive at dealerships in the 2011 model year (late 2010). This is to prevent watering-down the car's high-performance and luxury image in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico, and China (and soon, Russia). This does not include Australia, the UK and most other European countries. Availability in any of these countries will most likely be scarce.
Powered by an all new V-10 engine, Acura is convinced that the all new NSX will be truly "extreme," combining both luxury and high-performance in one package. According to the company's vice-president Koichi Kondo, though the car will be priced higher than the Nissan GT-R, it will also have better performance.

I am skeptical. I demand a proof.
Anyways, if the NSX beats the GT-R, the new Spec-V will really tear down ANY competition...

if Honda ever releases this car..........

Are we back in time (basically the 90's) when all the Jap made a nice sporty model and showed off with them. that will be so cool. we only need a Supra, an RX-7, 3000GT..... did i mess something.
About the NSX. whether it breaks the GT-R number or not, that is not important. The previous NSX was never seen except in Gran Tourismo (and other games) because of the crazy price tag. One can and most probably will buy a ferrari or something similar instead. As well, I hope they don't make the new NSX all electronic as the new GTR. I don't like the GT-R for its very high price and because everything is electronic. I don't like to depend on electronics that much.

I don't like to depend on electronics that much.
Unless you drive around in a classic car, you depend on electronics in your car everyday. If your cars ECM/ECU ever craps out, you are SOL. The presence of electronics doesn't make a car less reliable. That's just old man crazy talk. Hell, car electronics are simpler than desktop computer electronics and computers are pretty reliable.
mo
I didn't mean that. I meant it like this, some cars depend a bit on old school physics rules, and so you can feel the wheels and basically the car when you push it. other cars you just feel like nothing. You feel everything is not real. that is what i meant.
I drove a carrera 4S a while ago. I loved everything in it except:
1) Montreal Roads are crapy.
2) I was redlining it all the way, So I couldn't get higher than the 3rd gear.
3) I donno whether it was me, but I felt like the car tends to understeer. I know 4WD tend to understeer, but I thought that is a problme of the past. Maybe that was all the babysitting electronics interfering, coz I didn't figure out how to turn them off. Well, that is why I prefer a RWD car, when you push it hard you feel how your rear end is almost sliding out.

There's your problem: you're Canadian.
I'm sorry...I shouldn't dogging people for their misfortunes.

dude.....totally uncool.

Bring it on!

It reminds me a bit of a 350Z and Civic del Sol or Prelude all in one. Apparently it's no longer a mid engine car?

What happened to Honda being known for efficiency? V-10 engine? If they could milk 240hp from a 2.0L I-4 engine, why can't they milk *at least* 420hp from a 3.5L V-6 engine? (based on the hp/L ratio in the S2000). This is very lame in my eyes.
mo
pretty simply bc/ a V10 is what Honda is doing in F1 races. you know, they have the basics, they only need to work it out a bit. anyways, a 420 from a V6 engine just sound like super hyper, unless they are gonna trubocharge it. I know you are working by hp/L ratio, but I don't think that is the ideal way to work with engine output.
Mena
Actually, F1 has been using 2.4L V8's a few years now. But more than likely development of the NSX started during the V10 days.
mo
yeah i totally forgot about this, but yup, that is what i meant.

So let me get this straight. Honda is boasting that a car they are building and will be releasing in 2010 (two years from now) will be quicker than the GT-R that Nissan is currently selling? And it will cost significantly more? Sounds more like a shameful admission, rather than a boast. I think Nissan has proven that this is their ball game. Honda should put up and shut up.
Trinks
There's an old saying that goes "The heart of a Honda beats four cylinders at a time." As juicy as this car is bound to be, I'll keep my heart set on an S2000, a much more achievable (and truer) Honda.
Mena
So a supercar designed and built by Honda is somehow a fake Honda?
LOL!
Trinks
Not a fake Honda, just not in keeping with the spirit of the brand. The S2000 is the descendent of a long line of lightweight roadsters that put handling and agility over outright speed. Even the previous NSX was not a one-trick exotic but rather a well-rounded, well designed sports car that made effective use of a powerplant many found laughable. The point is, I'm sure the next NSX will be powerful, fun, and expensive. But with $5 gas on the horizon and the economy outlook bleak at best, this "mine's bigger than yours" game is rather un-Honda-like. Focus on building agile, fun, reasonably powered sports cars that real people can afford.

Honda may pull it off by building a more intelligent alternative--y'know, lighter.

It looks hot an all but this design reminds me of the older RX-7 from Mazda. Is anyone with me?
