ChangFeng Considering U.S. Production?

Chairman Li Jianxin, the head of Chinese automaker ChangFeng, says that the company is considering building a manufacturing facility in the U.S. as part of its plans to begin sales in this country by next year.

The Chairman was either slightly confused or mildly dodging at ChangFeng’s NAIAS press conference yesterday, when asked directly when his company would begin U.S. sales. Through a translator the Chairman said the company was still on track to make good on last year’s speculation of a U.S. launch in three to five years, eventually saying that 2009 was the goal.
