Facelift for Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger Could Arrive by 2011
Rumor has it that the stylists at cash-strapped Chrysler LLC are planning a makeover for the Charger and 300 sedans, but one that isn’t likely to come until around 2011.
Reports are that the new direction for the mold-breaking sedans will retain the blocky, old school styling of the current model, while raising the roofline to create a larger greenhouse. We’ll have to see some sketches at least before we make any kind of decision, but the idea of a 300 that’s just as square, but a little taller doesn’t sound all that promising in the abstract.
Chrysler is also said to be set on keeping its rear-wheel-drive LX platform into the foreseeable future. Despite the increasing importance of raising fuel economy numbers, and the predilection of Chrysler’s current range to chug gas, it’s said that the company just doesn’t have the budget to look at front-drive options right now.

I just hope in the facelift they are able to get a couple hundred pounds of german overengineering out of the cars so they are in line with the weight of the competition.

The Three Headed Dog better get ready to sell or bye-bye. This is not a good formula, especially factoring in the new lower volume approach they have been touting. More profit on each car making up the difference in loss of volume would only work if the cars sell, which considering how it sounds like they will basically be obsoleted by the competition is unlikely.

I hope they manage to keep that very distinctive look of the 300. A taller greenhouse may take away from that nice chop top look. So I hope they don't mess this one up.
