Goodbye S-Type, Hello XF?

S-Type Mule

Jaguar’s mid-range S-Type never quite turned into the sales blockbuster the English automaker hoped for, but the firm maintains hope for their crucial next-generation model, which Autocar reports will be called the XF.

The new sedan is expected to stretch Jaguar’s styling envelope beyond the retro-minded look of the current car, but early mules (as above) haven't revealed much. Unlike the pricier XK and XJ, the car isn’t expected to be rendered in aluminum, which should keep costs down and help keep the car’s launch on schedule.

The S-Type replacement is not to be confused with the Fuore XF 10 concept coupe that debuted back in 2003.

Expect to see the first XFs rolling off lines for spring of 2008 consumers.
