Nissan UK to Show Murano GT-C at Goodwood

Nissan Murano GT-C in motion

If ever there were a mainstream crossover crying out for a more sporting variant, it's the Nissan Murano. Thankfully, it appears that Carlos Ghosn's UK boffins have come up with the same idea, and have just released some more information on their Murano GT-C, which is set to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed just around the corner.

The Grand Tourer-Concept marries the plain-jane Murano's already accomplished dynamic résumé with a custom-designed Garret turbocharger that melds elements from the company's well-regarded T3 and T4 units, with an air-to-water charge cooling system to lower temperature and increase air density. The added boost gives the V6-powered GT-C enough shove (around 340 hp and 265 lb-ft. of torque) to hit 60 mph in 7.0 seconds (est.) en-route to a top speed of 140 mph. What's more, the modded Murano is said to make a more sonorous racket through its quad-tipped stainless steel exhaust system.

Of course, braking and suspension haven't been left alone, either. Uprated AP Racing brakes mark out the corners, as do 22-inch five-spoke alloys wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx ZR tires. The uprated shoes deliver feedback through a stiffened suspension, featuring Bilstein mono-tube dampers and shorter and stiffer springs (contributing to the GT-C's 25mm lower ride height).

Nissan Murano GT-C interior

The concept's interior has been given a once-over as well, with hand-stitched organic Strathspey leather (a special waxed matt leather tanned in Scotland), and a special black and bronze lacquer theme. What's more, there's matching bespoke luggage hand-rendered in the same materials. The GT-C's obligatory over-the-top feature? A hand-blown gear selector knob and center console 'trinket tray' rendered in… wait for it — Murano blue and clear glass.

While the GT-C remains a one-off, we wouldn't be surprised to see a pretty close riff on the concept find its way into production, though all bets are off on the hand-blown glass trinket tray. Let's just hope it makes it to North America.
