Racetrack Retreat: Knaus C-Liner

Normally, RVs aren't exactly cause for celebration around the offices of Winding Road. Clumsy visuals, questionable build quality, moving chicane dynamics and unwelcome social baggage usually put the kybosh on any mobile home oggling.

But hang on a sec. Even diehard auto enthusiasts can appreciate having a home-away-from home, particularly when said abode is located trackside. After all, entire villages of the things pop up in the infields of raceways around the world during events, so clearly they've got a place in a car buff's driveway.

Enter Germany's Knaus C-Liner. No, it's not a concept… the dominant a-pillars, multi-element headlamps and swoopy fender treatments are all very production, thank-you-very-much. Just ask Jamiroquai frontman and renowned enthusiast Jay Kay, who clearly isn't afraid to rock the box, having recently taken delivery of the UK's first C-Liner.

And with a swank interior like this, who could blame him? Despite the C-Liner's small footprint, Knaus' packaging people have figured out to squeeze in some pretty racy seats, a double-bed, gourmet kitchen, multimedia system, and a bathroom that's more Hilton than Winnebago.
