Hooray for Ford, It is about time that someone got arround to electrifying a vehicle other than a glorified golf cart. Might I offer a suggestion, I read in an article that you send trucks from a plant in France to Smith for electric conversion. At Smith they have to remove all the gas related equipment before they can start the conversion,then send all that stuff back to France for credit. Wouldn't it make more sense to send rollers with none of the gas related equipment installed. It would save a lot of labor and line time,not to mention all the shipping costs,for shipping all those parts back to France.
Next,to facilitate sales the connect needs to be brought to market as a passenger van. STOP with the stupid lease only way of doing business.If you are going to be an auto manufacturer you need to sell products. The Idea of leasing only to fleet operations goes against everything considered good business practice.
The next thing is to get away from the million dollar waste of a completely new concept car for an electric. You have several cars already in production that would/will lend themselves to being electric with very little modification. Whoever it was that decided electrics had to look wierd or different than ICE cars should have his head examined,He or they are idiots,(and that is the nicest thing I can say on that account).
I have been blogging in favor of Electric vehicles(in case you hadn't noticed), My next new vehicle will be electric,I have no intention of buying another vehicle till I can get an electric. I won't even consider a hybrid, because a hybrid is nothing but a Band Aid on a broken leg. there isn't enough increase in mileage or fuel econemy to warrent the extra cost. Not to mention they are still burning fossil fuel and a hybrid is a half measure towards an electric car.
