Bentley and Rolls-Royce to Sell Part and Accessory Back Stock

Bentley and Rolls-Royce have invited owners, enthusiasts, and traders to a unique parts and accessories sales fair.

Both manufacturers are giving professional traders, owners and enthusiasts an opportunity to buy anything that they might want, from a V-8 engine block to an indicator bulb, to a 1950s handbook.

The idea behind this massive sale is to help get rid of some of the seven million stored and cataloged items that the companies have for its cars, built from 1955 onwards, to make place for its upcoming models like the Bentley Continental Supersports. The sale is going to be held on September 26th and 27th, 2009.

Richard Lawrie, Heritage Parts Manager at Bentley Motors, comments: “We will be providing a large marquee to display the parts and hope that the selection will meet the requirements of specialist companies who restore and service these remarkable cars as well as the owner enthusiast seeking a rare item and the opportunity to buy directly from the warehouse.”

The implication is that they are not going to support the older vehicles with parts. Very sad for the owners. I know a man who restored a 1927 Rolls as a teenager (it won something at Hershey). A comparable feat would be impossible today, if they're selling off the old parts.
