Revealed: 2012 Mazda RX-9
We have asked Mazda’s Japanese offices several times over the past dozen years when exactly North America might be getting a car that lives up to the RX-7 sports car legend. While the RX-8 is fun enough, it is not quite as angry as we need. And the MX-5 Miata is simply cuteness-on-a-stick for single commuters and beginner circuit racers.

I thought RX stood for Rotary Experiment. So I'm not seeing a V in here...or anything except a rotary for that matter. Pretty render, though.

Well I hope it doesn't end up driving like an Aston Martin. Masda would do well to keep it light enough for good dynamics as well as fuel efficiency. That being said it has also better have enough horsepower to compete at least nomially with the likes of Vettes, Nissans etc as the commnet about not being angry enough is spot on. The rotary is a wonder but it has certain limitations that mandate the car be built around it's capabilities, ie low torque but lots of high end rip. Lets hope it gives the full bore RX experience. When I got my 79 it came with a book from Bob Bondurant warning you it was more car than you thought and to be careful. The new one needs to be worthy of such a warning...
