Will The Original K.I.T.T. Show on the New Knight Rider?
Insatiably hungry for any and all news relating to the upcoming new Knight Rider TV series, the tireless hacks over at Jalopnik have unearthed a piece of news that is sure to make true F-body fans stand up and holler.
When it was revealed that the newest version of K.I.T.T. was set to be a Mustang, the hearts of Trans Am lovers across the nation died a little bit. But all isn’t lost, as news today has the original (some may say the real) K.I.T.T. making at least a cameo appearance on the new show.
At the heart of this update is a couple of photos showing a black F-bodied Trans Am, half draped somewhere on the studio set, so there’s still a chance that nothing may come of it. But true believers hold out hope.

It should. After all, KITT is a computer...there's no reason that the premiere can't be written to have the F-body roll up, jack into the Mustang, and cross-load its OS and data from old to new. Then you just do a camera shot where the red strober syncs from the Trans-Am to the Mustang, and then the Trans-Am goes dark. It'll be a quick tear-jerker shot for the nostalgics and a nice transition to the new series.

Oh man... Jeb, good idea. That would make for a great scene.
However, I think my heart would die a bit as that little red light went over to a Mustang...

Then write in a crack about "we'd have used a Camaro, but GM was dragging it out so long..."

What about how the new Battlestar Galactica gave a nod to the old (campy but fun) show with references to how the old hardware just didn't cut it anymore - then when the badguys are able to disable the new-fangled equipment, the old-school comes out to save the day!

I think this is going to end up like the Bionic Woman rather than Battlestar Galactica.

But Kitt is not just a car. It had a heart and mind of its own which is what made it stand out so special with KARR. When you look at that 83 trans am as KITT you see that personality, a muscle car but very humble, cares for the driver, smart, and still even though all this was fake, the design was able to convice that all above is for real. I think the mustang as for a KITT's replacement will be somewhat like a bully with no feelings.. it may have a bossy type look but that is no car that can give KITT's characteristics. I think if GM can't come up with the latest camero then they should at least dress up the last version that came out in a pointy or futuristic way similar to KITT. Even a Corvette would do I suppose. Somehow they should look into the personality than just the characteristics of the car when they pick the star for KITT!

Too bad they switched from Pontiac to Ford. Maybe the third time they will replace the Ford with a Yugo.
