Every word I have read about this SL-class has been favorable; but I still have a hard time embracing it. The SL images of the standard AMG are enough to catch my eyes with a sumptuous cabin and mind-bending performance. But the Benz is still becoming less and less of an enthusiast dream and more of trying to stuff too many things into a single package. Maybe the SL65 AMG accomplishes that task; maybe it doesn't. It certainly is the best-looking car to carry the SL name in forty years.

This car really needs one of those double clutch tranny's. Running the old 5 speed auto a car of this magnitude boggles the mind. At this price range, I would expect current tech. I agree that it is an awesome looking car and performance will be even better than the "standard" SL65 with the huge weight drop. Maybe Brabus can modify the 7 speed DC for duty in this car.

I think the torque (and wide torque band) obviates the need for more than 5 gears. The bigger deal is the lockup clutch, so it isn't exactly the old 5 speed tranny.

Weight, by subtraction from the SL65, should be 3958 lb.

Ducati Minor

Any weight drop is a plus. The 5 spd. A/T is an obvious minus. Mena mentioned Brabus improving upon the factory model with its pro-tuner version. I recall Jeremy Clarkson's review of the Brabus R230. He complained about the tuned engine delivering too much power, especially torque. The Mercedes R230 SL65 AMG, to summarize, was "perfect."

Im 18 years old and as a struggling
student who enjoys racing UGG Boots ultra short
