Buyer's Guide: 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe
CAR SUMMARY
New for 2009, the 370Z coupe carries on the tradition of Nissan's Z-badged coupes, dating back to the age of Datsuns. A complete overhaul of the 350Z from last year, the 370 features a 3.7-liter V-6 engine capable of 332 horsepower, making it more powerful than the Ford Mustang GT or Mazda RX-8. New features for the 370Z include Nissan's SynchroRev Match system, which automatically blips the throttle to an ideal engine rpm for smoother downshifts. An extensively revised interior is a step up from the Zs of the past, and a widened color palette with new, brighter colors allows consumers to be sure that their Z can be seen from a mile away.
PROS
- Powerful V-6 engine mated to a slick six-speed manual.
- Edgy styling sets the Z apart from the performance coupe crowd.
- SynchroRev allows for smoother, faster shifting.
CONS
- No telescopic function for steering wheel.
- Very limited cabin and cargo space.
- Poor rearward visibility, especially in key blind spots.

I was looking over a test Z in detail. The specs are impressive, and the equipment is Infiniti-grade. That's a real complement when you see how far Infiniti has come to matching BMW. It's been a cleaner road the more troubled Audi brand, too.
I just can't get over the styling.
Like it or not, the 350 was a fluid, clear, and singular form. The 370 is an altered version. That's not new in a product cycle. The problem is that it looks like an altered version of the 350.
Sometimes you can win with that--the G37 coupe, for instance, enjoys a curvier shape that adds figure. The FX35, however, didn't come out of the lab so well with the same formula applied.
The 370's head and tail lamps, roofline, and grill look unnatural. That was the one thing unarguable about the 350--it looked as it was meant to be.

I'd have to say I agree with DM's statement above.
I drove my 350 to the dealership last weekend to take a closer look at the 370, and found results similar to what was described above. The first in-person impression was definitely better than what it looks like on paper, and although the "presence" of the 370 excites me(because I'm a Z fan), as stated by DM it does look unnatural compared to the 350.
Nissan did a great job on the 2 wheel options, both a 5-spoke design, that seem to stand out and compliment the car without being flashy. I also like the F1 style lower center brake light on the rear bumper.
The interior is undeniably better in quality, however ergonomics remain roughly the same, which were pretty good to begin with. With the exeption of the ridiculous "stand-out" silver gas guage panel, the other guages as well as "soft touch" plastics and lots of leather accents used throughout the cabin are very good. I also like the BMW style floor-mounted accelerator pedal.
The sound of the 370 is quite a bit different at idle(throatier and louder) than the 350, but sounds more similar from inside the cabin. As far as power is concerned, I noticed more low-end grunt, not as much on paper, but due to ECU re-mapping for a more instant and linear feel, given I was only able to take it up to 5K RPM on the test drive. Steering feel is still great and feels more nimble than a stock 350, but not as nimble as my modified 350.
Overall, stock for stock, the 370 is a better car. But not enough for me to upgrade from my 2004.5 350Z Touring 6spd. Here's why: My performance mods are Nismo exhaust, JWT popcharger intake, KJR lightened crank pulley, Iso Thermal Plenum spacer, Koni sport shocks(adjustable), Tein H. Tech springs(.5 inch lower). My 350 is slightly lighter (23lbs lighter), and felt every bit as fast, but more nimble than the 370 due to those few mods. The 370Z is a nice upgrade, just not "enough" of an upgrade to trade mine in, especially since I still only have 19K miles on mine and is in near show condition, better than new in my opinion.

Haven't read a personal review of the 370Z yet. Thanks for yours. If I didn't have my Solstice, I would be inclined to go drive a 370Z. It seems like a helluva car on paper. I don't usually compare stock cars to modified one's BUT I will use a cars aftermarket potential to help decide what car to buy. That's what led me to my present car. Do you frequent any of the Z forums? How's the aftermarket potential of the 370Z?
DR Bush
I used to be one of the biggest contributers to a 350Z forum called everything350z.com, until admin sold the domain. However, I do browse other forums. After market potential for the 370Z, thus far, seems quite good as far as bolt-ons. For example, I've heard of 19WHP / 14WTQ gains just by bolting on berk technology high flow cats. I've read the bone stock 370Z has been putting down anywhere from 258WHP to 280WHP....quite a range I know, but as I'm sure you know, it also depends on the type of dyno used.
Stillen has already developed a supercharger for the 370Z and there are also turbo kits close to production. However, with a new higher compression ratio of 11.0 to 1, forced induction seems even more risky on the 370 than the 350.

I bought a magnetic black 370Z with the sport package on Jan 16, trading in my 05 350Z. this is the fifth Z I have owned -82 280Zx, 86 300ZX, 91 300ZX Twin Turbo (still own this one), 2005 350Z and now a 2009 370Z - one of every generation except the very first one which I plan to buy one day.
The 370Z is an improvement over the 350Z in every area except the TPMS. However, having said that I loved my 2005 350Z, it was a great car and if the 370Z had not come out I would have kept the 350Z. Both are great cars and IMO are better sports cars than anything on the road even close to the price. I do drive about 60 miles a day so the improved interior was a big deal for me. I also like the headlights and taillights (the taillights are the coolest thing on the 370Z that never get mentioned, the LED "steps" are really cool) and the headlights and taillights just flow with the car in person. The 370Z has 45 more HP than the 350Z I was driving but its the delivery of that power that is the biggest difference, the 370Z really comes alive at about 5000 rpm and it pulls hard to 7500 rpm. The RAYS wheels are very nice for stock wheels, and its a good thing since the 18 inch NISMO wheels I had on my 350Z were simply swallowed whole by the gigantic rear wheel wells, its going to take a large - 11" or 12" wide aftermarket 19" or 20" wheel with the right offset to fill in that rear wheel well and look aggressive, so I may just stick with the stock wheels which get more comments than any wheel I have ever owned. Overall its just a really fun car. One thing I wasn't expecting was the attention it gets. Taking it to a gas station is an event. People walk over and ask questions (most asked: are those the stock wheels?) and comments range from positive to absolutely gushing over the car. I attribute that partly to the lack of 370Zs on the road, as I have had mine one month and haven't seen another one yet. All in all this is a car that could make Nissan bring back their old slogan - "Enjoy the Ride".
DR Bush
Thanks for your review, especially since you've actually had yours' for a month or so. Since I was only able to drive the 370 for about 10 minutes, it's hard to guage a lot of it's attributes. Again, I do agree with you that the 370 is more appealing in person. And you're absolutely right about the powerband difference, I only wish I was able to take it past 5K RPM to see what you're talking about. Nice color choice on yours' too, by the way. Black has always been my favorite because I'm a detail fanatic and nothing looks better than black when clean and detailed! ;D Good to hear you're getting good feedback/attention on your 370, and with this economy I suspect you'll continue to get the attention until more of them are on the road. I'd be one of those people to come talk to you about your car, as I usually do with any Z enthusiast. Congrats!

buy sof gold
You will get a beautiful cloth which in the game if we want to need the beautiful cloth, we can use our own Scions Of Fate gold to buy. The one I owned on my character is one of my friends sent to me the necessary SOF gold. Sometimes we can share the trophy as the necessary Scions Of Fate money together, and we do quest together. I do not have enough confidence and cheap SOF gold about my weak memory. First I have to buy sof gold to improve my pet which I have a lovely leopard in this game.

I bought mine 4 weeks ago in Seattle and drove it down to Houston--3k in 10 days. It was a blast. Hitting 125 with another gear to go (good thing I bought a new radar detector--only one ticket from a well handed lazer). I digress. The car is just plain fun. It had me from a test drive two weeks earlier. It is a big attention getter, a bit more than I wanted. I've had 3 random "can I take a picture with your car" events and plenty of walk-ups. The GF hates it cause of it, but hell if I wanted a family car I would have got the G37. No regrets here, just debating on after market exhaust and the hope of turbo in late 09--something worthwhile to put in the gage cluster vs battery and time (enough alone to drive me to add juice).
I'm a big kid too: 6'2" and 250... no issues other than anyone would have from some rough blindspots, which I deal with aceleration and tilted out side mirrors. Houston is a big rough road which blows, but a hit some RR tracks and it really handled the air well with less scuffing than I would have thought--great balance.
I'm going to run it ragged like a Z was meant to do. Watch out for the blue Z in H-town MFs!!

The rectangle shaped face needs links of londonjewelry that adds width and camouflages the length of the face. A highchoker reduces the length of the face, particularly if the neck is toolong. In addition, a 16¡å or 18¡å necklace that ends in a ¡°U¡±flatters this face. Long hair and narrow links of london is perfect match which can impress others as a fair lady. Fancy clothes coordinating links of london with slight tint could be better.

Im 18 years old and as a struggling student who enjoys racing UGG
Boots ultra short Le its becoming extremely expensive and harder to
attend and enjoy a days racing.
Sure a student with a part time UGGS upside job would
have to save for a few weeks to consider attending a raceday as expensive as
this. I see that
Fairyhouse are racing on the 19th of this month and are charging UGGS
whitely boots 5e entry fee.
Its up to other tracks to follow suit and use some initiative to offer better
value to the normal racegoer….Pretty good air jordan post. I just found your site and wanted to say that I have really
enjoyed browsing your Bailey Button UGG Boots posts. In any case I’ll be
subscribing to your blog and I hope you nike sb post again soon! UGG Boots
