Peugeot seems ready to take the fight to one of Europe’s popular small crossovers, the Nissan Qashqai, with this newly uncovered 3008 CUV.
 
Based on, and strongly resembling the 3008 Prologue Concept from this fall’s Paris Motor Show, the five-person people mover seems to have the pert proportions and interior volume to compete strongly in this segment, but the styling is still something of an open question. The large, open mouth grille might take a little extra getting used to. 

The 3008 will likely share engines with its 308 little brother, meaning slew of small displacement four-bangers and highly efficient diesels.

We expect to see the production 3008 in March of next year at the Geneva Motor Show. Read on below for the spy shooter’s original comments.

One of our favorite pure concept cars from this year’s Paris show, the GT by Citroen does its damnedest to be all things to all people. With a little help from the shrewd minds at Polyphony Digital—makers of the Gran Turismo series of driving simulators—the GT combines otherworldly sex appeal with a 21st century consciousness via a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain. The fertile minds of French auto designers may bend toward the wacky on most occasions, but we think the GT will prove memorable for Citroen.

It has been known that Peugeot wants to expand its lineup and sales figures and now it seems as if the French company’s strategy may involve the creation of a new subsidiary budget brand.

The new marque would specialize in low-cost vehicles to keep with Peugeot's plan to direct its attention to emerging economies. By grouping the cars together into a sub-brand it will hopefully make it easier to boost its sales to two million units per year. The subsidiary brand would also help the low cost models from reflecting poorly on Peugeot and Citroen. 

Plans are still in the discussion stage for now, though it’s been rumored that automaker may end up using one of the names that it owns such as Talbot, a brand that Peugeot took over from Chrysler back in 1978 and then killed off in 1992 due to poor sales.

The 2008 Peugeot design contest is currently underway, with 29 entries from students across the globe vying to take the title before the contest ends on September 15. Contestants were asked to design a vehicle that can evolve within the cities of the future, while taking into consideration environmental awareness, social harmony, interactive mobility, and economic efficiency.

As with most competitions of this ilk, the entrants run from the utterly infeasible, to the seemingly almost practical. All of them are pretty spectacular in their own way though, and can be explored through our gallery above. Images have just been released for the upcoming Peugeot 308 CC, which is set to be shown off at the Paris Motor Show this October. It is still very easy to tell where the 308 CC’s roots lay, since the cabriolet has the same front end and chassis as last year's 308 hatchback, the CC has its own unique styling from the windshield to the back.

The 308 CC has features like a folding metal hardtop that only takes twenty seconds to retract, additional chrome trimmings, new LED tail-lights, and even a rear lip spoiler that is smoothly integrated into the design.

The 308 CC will come standard with rollover bars, front and side airbags, and an electronic stability control system. Premium options include leather trim and air warmers near the headrests. While the cabriolet's debut will initially come with a selection of a 150-horsepower engine or a 140-horsepower diesel, a 160-horsepower THP (turbo high pressure) version should hit the market later on.

Launched in 1935, Peugeot's swoopy 402 was certainly an attention-grabbing automobile, but it was the 402 convertible - like this 1938 example currently listed on eBay - that stole the limelight from other French marques.

Peugeot is said to be ramping up its efforts to break Audi’s stranglehold on the 24 Hours of Le Mans, by adding a third car manned by Formula One talent for the 2008 running of the French classic.
