We told you yesterday that Ford will be unveiling its new Park Assist technology on the Lincoln MKS and upcoming MKT, but the folks at FoMoCo have now released a video showing their new Park Assist in action, hosted by Ford's chassis chief engineer, Ali Jammoul.

Not long after Ford unveiled the Lincoln MKT concept, prototypes of the Flex-based Lincoln crossover started appearing. One year later, the production MKT will be making its debut in Detroit next month, and our friends at The Car Connection have received some shots of nearly ride-ready MKTs out testing.

At first glance, it's clear that the MKT and Flex do not share a whole lot in the way of styling, and that Lincoln's new corporate face is expanding across the model line. (We're not sure if we like the oversized grille, though.) Other subtle design quirks like the upwards slant just after the rear door and a more sloped roof also do the job of separating the MKT from its Flex and MKX siblings.

The Car Connection also shows an interior shot of the MKT, showing a clean and upscale dash design surrounded by what should be some pretty nice materials. Ford's interiors have gotten much better lately, and if this shares anything with the materials in the new Flex or MKS, it will be a hit. Look for the MKT to get Ford's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 at some point, too. Head over to TCC for the full shots and stay tuned for our coverage of the MKT at the Detroit Show next month.

Now that the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan have been completely refreshed for the 2010 model year, it only makes sense that their platform-mate, the Lincoln MKZ, would get a couple of updates. The styling has indeed been influenced by that of the larger MKS sedan, though we don't find it to be nearly as attractive as its Fusion and Milan siblings.

Under the hood is a 3.5-liter V-6 which produces 263 horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque mated to a six-speed automatic. The MKZ is said to sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.1 seconds, or six-tenths of a second quicker than the previous model. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available.

The interior gets a slight update with a handful of useful features like Ford's updated navigation interface with Sirius Travel Link, Sync, rain-sensing wipers, and a reverse camera system.

Most of the time, when an automaker completely overhauls one of their models, it's a good step forward for not only the car, but for the brand it represents. However, there are other times where the design teams make some questionable decisions and the new products end up looking worse than their predecessors.

Ford has announced that it will charge a $700 premium for vehicles equipped with the new EcoBoost technology. The first examples of EcoBoost will arrive next year in the Ford Flex and Lincoln MKS in a 3.5-liter V-6 arrangement. The new Ford F-150 will also receive this technology in 2010, and Ford executives claim that the F-150 will produce “significantly more” than 340 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

The EcoBoost technology relies heavily on turbocharging and direct-injection and is said to yield as much as 20 percent better fuel economy than a standard gasoline engine. This technology will allow Ford to replace V-8 powerplants with V-6s, and V-6s with four-cylinder setups. Ford estimates annual savings at roughly $339 each year when driving 15,000 miles per year with gasoline at $3.25 per gallon.
