Corvette Centennial Concept as the Transformers 2 Character 'Sideswipe'
The Corvette Centennial Concept that has been spotted many times on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plays its part as the robotic character named Sideswipe. Though Sideswipe was a Lamborghini in the original Transformers cartoons, it will hopefully still retain the same character as the rule-bending but loyal Autobot that was known in part for its "jet judo." Sideswipe, along with other details on the upcoming Transformers movie, were recently uncovered at a Hasbro Licensing Summit.

I haven't watched the G1 cartoon in years, but I didn't recall Sideswipe being a Lambo until I looked at Wikipedia. He character was so anonymous for being the most opulent exotic car of the 1980s.

That's cool. It's the characters that are important and not their 20 year old exteriors. With Optimus being the exception, as there's no vehicle on the ROAD that conveys an "I'm in charge here" subtext like a semi-tractor trailer. Of course, the other characters' personality should be reflected in their exteriors. So Bumblebee should be a smaller, hi-po car and Starscream is best represented as a superiority fighter. The actual small car and fighter model is up to the writers who want to update the plot.
