WWF Draws Attention To China’s Ballooning Car Pollution Issue
Here in Shanghai, the smog situation doesn’t feel quite as dire as we were led to believe, though there are definitely a large number of vehicles that are in less-than-optimal tune, shall we say.
The World Wildlife Fund has sought to bring attention to the growing environmental impact of China’s burgeoning car population with the above display. The group made use of an old Xia Li, inflating a huge black balloon using only the car’s exhaust.
We’re not sure how long it took to inflate the balloon, but they certainly succeeded in creating an eye-catching display.

Wouldn't the fumes from the exhaust pipe re-circulate back into the car, being blocked like that and all? Kinda a catch 22 if it does...

i always thought there was a bit of air those balloons released naturally, hence having a fan on them full time to keep them inflated. but i wouldn't doubt that there were fumes recirculating back into the car.
as smog has a "weight" to it, i can only wonder what that thing weighs compared to normal "air." THAT would be a nice little tidbit of info for the WWF to divulge.

If the fumes were to re-circulate back into the car, I wonder if they had to take extra measures in sealing it shut from the outside?

Yeah, they're enconomy's booming, but their incredible population and lax environmental concerns are going to kill them in the long run.

I wonder what they did to the baloon after it was done with. They cant have just let the baloon deflate because that would be polluting again.
