What "Great" Classic Car was Really Just Junk on Wheels?
Ducati Minor

There are plenty of cars people call classic. But let's face it: a lot of those classics weren't really all that classic. Two tons, lack of power steering, 60+% of the weight up front, all-wheel-drums...
Anyone been in a base-model Challenger? Made a VW Beetle look like a Benz.
What great classic strikes you in your mind for not deserving any praise? Porsche 914? Ferrari 308?

Most of the so called muscle cars of the 60's were only great in a stright line. My buddy's small block Mustang could not stay with my Corvair Corsa on the winding roads of WV. I drove a friend's Olds 442 and almost put it the ditch with it's massive understeer. The Corvettes have held up in the face of time.

Many of the big-block Vettes actually suffered similar problems. Duntov was supposedly furious about the hauling in of Chevy's massive 427s into his beloved Sting Ray. He took pride in the nearly perfect weight distribution, only to see it totally slide with the 7.0 L rush.

My favorite junk on wheels was a glorious red MGB. I had wanted one for years and this is what I had in mind...
Well, my funds were limited and I bought one that needed a little fixing up and TLC here and there. This is the car I learned about Prince of Darkness electronics and clearances you could drive a truck through. Did you know that if you polish the wire wheels, they will no longer run true or hold air? Well, I didn't either.
Anyway, the dream is above and the reality is below.
Many Thanks
Jim

That's terrible. I made a similar grievous error with a Spider Veloce.
I'm still scarred by it. (No, this one isn't it.)
