BMW 7-series design thoughts
Reilly Brennan
With the introduction (official) of the next 7-series upon us (the photos are already leaked here ), I wonder what the brief was inside BMW to create this sedan.
From the exterior photos available it appears the front end is a subdued Bangle-less design, but a few other items caught my eye
- extremely long hood, or at least the perception of an extremely long hood
- nearly flat front end (see this picture for more of a perspective on the front of the vehicle as viewed from the side)
- Rear tail lights seem very Infiniti M45, without the gun chamber look
- Somewhat strange placement of the side panel embellishment (between front quarter and front door)?
What do you think of this new one from BMW?

I like it, but that's because I hope that, like many recent cars, it looks okay in pictures but will look better in person.

Your noting the particularly bluff front-end is the design feature that caught me. I still miss the pronounced forward-leaning grille of yore, even if it may not have been the absolute best thing for aerodynamics. I have to think that pedestrian safety regs may have played a part in its design.
Overall, I will wait to see one in person, but it looks like a fairly agreeable update. That said, it's already been quite a while since I found a 7-series to be attractive.
