Do concept cars need a basis in reality?
Nate Luzod

Obviously they should fulfill basic requirements like having more than two wheels and enough room for a driver, but why shouldn't designers go "buck wild" when dreaming up what we'll be driving in the future? Shouldn't we view these the same way we view runway models and the absurd garments they parade around in?
It's not something we'd expect to see folks driving or wearing next year, but it's a healthy exercise in imagination that keeps ideas fresh. From these far-flung ideas, can't we take bits and pieces to build on what is currently 'acceptable' to keep things evolving?

I'd actually prefer a return to concept cars that are more, well, "conceptual". That is, designs that explore new directions without reference to what will be built. Seeing prototypes of production cars is fine, too, but the pendulum has swung too far.

According to some of our illustrious members, they should be damn near production ready!
