Danica Patrick at Honda F1

It sounds like Honda F1 is going to give Danica a shot at a real F1 test later this year. I think that Danica is talented and that we've still not seen the best she has to offer, but has she really done enough to deserve a shot on the big stage?

I think you're right. I'd say Danica is a top 10 driver in open wheel in America, but that's hardly F1 territory. On the other hand, she does have press, which F1 needs.

Okay... as much as I love Danica, and I do... I'm not sure I'd put her in the top 10 American Open Wheelers...

Also, last I saw, Honda F1 principal Nick Fry was denying these reports? http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/68180 - Certainly, later this year we might see it... But seems to me that it'd be a publicity move more than anything... However much I'd love to see her succeed in the big dance.

I think the most promising American talent right now that has a reasonable shot at succeeding in F1 is Rahal... But, I believe he's said that he won't make the move unless he can be competitive... and right now there are only 6 competitive seats in F1... and for an American to get a shot at any of those would be amazing indeed.

Title of that linked article aside, I don't think Nick Fry was really denying the reports so much as covering himself in case things don't work out.

I'd be a bit surprised to see Danica earn an F1 drive in the near future, but I'd bet Honda will give her a test. The media interest in such a thing would almost be too good to pass up for a back-sliding team.

I sincerely hope she gets a drive in F1 but not with Honda. Most of the guys are real pussies with little or no character.

Listen to Raikkonen droning on in his monitone. Check out the so called king of cool Hamilton, for cool read boring. Sulky Alonso who would pass for a cheesey Spanish waiter any day.

F1 needs an injection of fun and charachter not seen since the days of Niki Lauda and James Hunt.

IMHO, I suspect the Honda F1 team will make great improvements under Ross Braun's tenure. If Honda becomes more competitive, their cars won't be boat anchors much longer. Thanks.
