I'm not a drag racing fan, so I just read that Scott Kalitta died on Saturday while qualifying for an NHRA event. Peace to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Indeed. It was a dark weekend for motorsports. Kalitta was killed, as was a veteran vintage racer, Dino Crescentini, who died at Mosport in his Can-Am racer (link here ).
