Vettel (!!!)
Reilly Brennan
The complete and total financial meltdown in the U.S. and the Hurricane Ike hardship notwithstanding, there was reason to smile this weekend: Sebastian Vettel won his first race (Monza). I was in the car most of Sunday so I didn't see it -- did anyone else? My guess is that his qualifying effort (he won pole) was more impressive than the race itself.
It appears Germany might have a new F1 hero to root for.

It was an interesting race. Vettel won because he got pole and the car didn't break. His enthusiam was nice, but it wasn't that heroic in my view. What was weird was that Kimi couldn't pass and Hamilton could. Speed kept crediting the cars, but you had to wonder if the drivers were part of the deal. Anyway, rainy races are fun.

Vettel did great and I think he's got some talent but his team definitely setup the car for a rain race unlike the top teams. Their mistake.
I don't think Kimi couldn't pass, I just don't think he's interested in racing unless he's in front. Ever notice how his driving changes when he thinks he has a shot at winning? Hamilton tries in every race which why he finished in 6th after going from 15th to 1st then from 11th to 6th during the race. Look at Spa, IMO, that was the perfect showcase of the drivers true capabilities.
