Which NASCAR driver would you want to see in F1?

You answer could have two forces weighing against it: skill and personality. My vote is for Tony Stewart, as he used to drive open-wheel cars he'd probably get to the middle of the pack rather quickly. As he's somewhat out of shape (to put it mildly), I doubt he'd ever be a race winner. But it would be interesting.

Carl Edwards has got a sort of next generation Dan Gurney way about him. He's got a solid combination of talent and athleticism that would be needed for F1. He's so huge though, he'd tower above the current F1 crop of pilots.

It's awfully hard to tell who could make such a drastic change. Five years ago, Jeff Gordon and possibly Tony Stewart or Boris Said could have taken F1 races immediately. I think they have moved past the time that they could change to a completely different type of racing and still be world class drivers. Kyle Bush could make the transition. He is young enough and has enough raw talent to do the job.

The other way to go is with former Indy Car stars. Patrick Carpentier, Dario Franchitti, Sam Hornish, Jr, and Max Papis come to mind. Oh, and I almost forgot Tasmanian Marcos Ambrose who dominated the Formula Ford Euro Cup in 1999, then was a star in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series: taking the championship in 2004 and 2005.

Many Thanks

Max Papis drove a Formula One car for about a year sometime in the mid 90's. Never finished in the points from what I can remember. Also, F1 is generally not a young guy sport although there are exceptions. Michael Schumacher retired at 37 and was still a dominant driver on his way out. He won 4 championships in a row while aged 32-36.

This is a joke, right?
