I''m thinking more street, but if you ride dirt you are more than welcome to chime in!
I ride both dirt and street, the former for much longer than the latter. Started riding dirtbikes when I was nine, was racing motocross at 13, but nowadays stick to track days and trails. My current bike is a 2006 Honda CRF250R.
I just got my first street bike two months ago, a 1992 Honda CB750 Nighthawk. I use it for everything, which these days is mainly commuting.
So how about you guys? What are your motorcycling histories?

Ducati Minor
I was a rider until I was arrested for having a minor. The arrest affected me deeply.
No, I'm a street rider, but want to do more dirtbiking. That will be my pursuit in the next year, but I do plan to refine my road skills. I'm waiting for the fall of '09 to buy my next, new middleweight bike. I am tempted to pursue a Suzuki SV1000S, but may stick to the cheaper 650S or Yamaha FZ6.

I started riding in the dirt at 11 or so on a Honda XR80 and then moved up to a Kawasaki KX100. I mostly did trail riding in local upstate New York trails and Pennsylvania too. The first street bike I rode was my Dad's VFR750 but my first road bike was a CBR600F4i and later a 2004 GSX-R 750 (my current ride).

I started riding at about 11-12 on a homebuilt Bonanza/Briggs & Stratton minibike, then graduated to a used Honda CB160C at about 13-14 (real gears, real clutch, real brakes, real suspension, and electric starting--woo-hoo!!).
Although that first Honda was a streetbike, I rode it off road on hard-packed dirt lanes until I was old enough to get my driver's license. I have been a streetbike rider, on an off, ever since.
My riding has fallen into three distinct periods, between which I have taken long breaks from motorcycling (like many people who ride, I go back and forth between weighing the risks, which are very real, versus appreciating the rewards, which are also real and deeply satisfying).
