This car seems really interesting:

Looks cool, kit is well thought out, performance (both handling and
acceleration) should be good. I figure you could get into this for
around $30k if you buy everything new. Of course a used C6 'Vette or a new Mustang would take less work, but is this a viable option?

I like it. Even if you had to pay someone to do all the work, 200 hours at $50 per hour is $10k. For $40,000 you'd have a pretty nice car. What do these things weigh?

Tom Martin

Factory Five says the weight with a small block is around 2000 lb. The Mustang GT 4.6 has 315 hp, so power/weight would be better than a Porsche Carerra S. There's a lot more to life than ratios, but you can't defy physics either (so starting with good power/weight doesn't hurt).

How hard is something like this to register?

I'd take one.... with an STI drivetrain and poweplant.

How fun would that be :)

I'm currently just finishing a Factory Five Type 65 Coupe. It will be a track/street car. It's been a great experience. Factory Five is fabulous to work with. Any problems (just a few minor) have been handled right away.

Building one of these is a street rodders dream.  Buy the kit and add the drive train of choice.  The only problems are there are a ton of 34 coupes around already and it is getting harder to be "different" all the time; and sendly it is a 'glass kit not the original tin.  That is why I have an all Mopar 40 Plymouth sedan delivery (1 of 4 known to exist) and I am in the process of acquiring an all MoPar 41 Plymouth sedan delivery. All in all it sure looks like a winning project, I 'm even thinking about getting one just to find a home for my blown 5.4/5 sp.
