Best All-Weather Performance Car?

With winter arriving with some force this week, I've again turned my thoughts (living in a four season climate) to which performance cars are best year-round.  I've noticed for example that some cars with extremely wide rubber don't have snow tires available.  Also, a lot of the press' favs are RWD, and I'm suspicious of RWD in the snow and on hills. So, what are the best performance cars for all season use, taking into account traction, traction control, tire availability, overall driving goodness and other stuff that matters?

All wheel drive goes without saying. My wife always said I had a profound grasp of the obvious:^)

I've owned Audi Quattros since 1987 and have always found them to be excellent all weather cars. So the first car I thought of is the Audi R8, my favorite super-car. But, as Bill mentioned, you'd be hard pressed to find snow tires or steel wheels. I then thought of an Audi R4 Quattro. This would probably be the one I would buy. You mentioned high performance though, and that usually implies a sports car look that the Audi doesn't have. You can't think high performance sports car without thinking Porsche. So I thought of the Cayenne. But anything that heavy cant be a sports car. I was looking for a street version of something like this...

Until I find it, I'll be happy with my Audi's, but let me know if if you come up with something better.

Many Thanks

I think this is what BMW had in mind when they did the X6. Of course, they missed the mark by quite a bit.

The BMW 3 series coupes can be had in AWD. Also, the G37 coupe can also be had in AWD.
