The five car lottery garage.
tbmshark
As cliche as this question might be, it's still fun. You just hit the lotto, but the garage will only hold five cars. What do you buy?
My list:
Ferrari 550 Maranello
McLaren M8F
Caterham R500
Porsche 993RS
Brabus Rocket

You guys have some good picks.
I need a GT for road trips: Ferrari 599
I need a track day car: Pratt and Miller C6RS
I need a vintage race car: 1971 Porsche 917K
I need a classic: 1938 Talbot-Lago T-150 SS
I need a supercar: Porsche Carrera GT
Even if I had the bucks, I realized while doing this that I'd want maintainable stuff for the most part so I could drive them (yeah I know the Talbot-Lago doesn't fit that description).
Nigel
An Audi R8 (have to have something modern here dont you? )
A 246 Dino
For Utility a 109 in wheelbase Land Rover
A 50's jaguar xk 120 to 150 or something morgan.
And always ALWAYS leave an empty slot. this tells the universe you are always willing for MORE.
cheers

2008 BMW X6 - My every day car.
2008 Audi R8 - My dream sports car.
1953 Studebaker Commander Coupe built as a resto-rod. (possibly lakester style) - Love that Lowey design.
1939 Graham Paige street rod pulling an early Airstream "Bambi" - Spectacular pre-war street rod/ vintage camper combo.
2004 Ford "Forty-Nine" Concept - Need a drivable concept car.
I had to leave out my Riddler winning show car, dune buggy, Miller/Offy Indy car, Continintal Mark II and tow rig. I also cheated a little bit with my street ro/Airstream combo. This exersize is harder than I thought:^)
Many Thanks

Okay... So, I cheated and imposed a few rules on myself here when making this list (which was damn hard to make!). The big one being that I wasn't going to go into the range of "hypercars" like the Macca F1, the SLR, Pagani, the CGT, or the Veyron. Everything short of that was fair game.
1. Track Day - F430 Scuderia, red, flappy paddle gearbox.
2. GT - AM V8 Vantage, British Racing Green, 6 speed.
3. Fun Little Sports Car - Elise SC, red, 6 speed.
4. Laid Back Cruiser - MB SL65 AMG, white, auto (does it come w/ a manual?).
5. Daily Driver - Audi A3 2.0T, white, 6 speed.
Then, the 6th car that just missed the list... the new ZR1. The 7th was a 430 Spyder.
I surprised myself in that the entire list was new cars. I suppose that says a pretty substantial something about the cars that modern automakers are sending us!

I can't believe I put the R8 on my list. Considering I would never but a standard R8. The diesel gives it the hp it REALLY needs plus a ton of torque AND the possibility of massive aftermarket potential (diesel engines are bulletproof and can take a TON of hp).

1.Lancia Stratos (in road-going trim, I’m not that crazy)
2.Acura NSX (first year)
3.BMW 2002 Turbo
4.Lamborghini Miura P400SV
5.Beat up Mid-1970s (not picky on the year here) Ford F-150

Nice earthy touch with the F-150, Miersma.
I'm certainly with you on the Miura SV, but something tells me I'd largely just want to stare at and I'd be too afraid to drive it. The Stratos and the 2002 are also fine picks and might crack my top five.
I'm not sure I have the definitive answer here, but I'm partial to these cars if we're speaking of "production" vehicles:
1) McLaren F1 (road-ready version is fine for me, thanks)
2) Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic
3) Ariel Atom (nothing terribly insane here, either. 300 hp or under)
4) Audi R8 (my son's favorite car at the moment, so I must oblige)
5) Porsche 911 RS
I have a bunch of more financially sensible alternatives, but since the lottery stipulation means that I'm not bound by financial constraints, I must pass on the Mini Cooper John Cooper Works GP, BMW E9 3.0 CSL and E30 M3, Volkswagen A1 GTI, Nissan Sentra SE-R, Citroen DS, International Harvester Scout, GMC Syclone, Porsche Boxster S, Land Rover Defender, Renault R5 Turbo and/or Spyder, and even pricier oddball items like the Lamborghini LM002 and Aston Martin Lagonda (yes, I know I need help). I'm rather sad to see that at a glance, I don't have an American or Japanese car in my off-the-cuff top five, or anything with more than three seats. Pity.

I like your secondary list more than your first. I find it hard to believe I forgot the Atom. I love that car.

The F-150 is meant to be too earthy, I'm just going to need something to haul around all the other crap I buy after I win the lotto. The old ones just look (and sound) better.
The real question is where I'll choose to live after the win. I need some place with the perfect balance of great roads, few traffic cops, low taxes, and no snow....ideas?

I like Malibu because you can live in the mountains OR on the beach (hella expensive though) OR have a mountain view of the beach OR a beach view of the mountains. TONS of great roads and not many cops.
Also, the central California coast (and just inland from there too...Paso Robles, Atascadero, etc.) gets my very close second vote. Can be as expensive as Malibu but there are some reasonable areas. There's nothing but awesome roads in the central coast area. Some are 1 to 1.5 lane country roads with beautiful scenery. Hardly any cops.
Never any snow although the Malibu mountains gets a decent snow every 30 years or so.

I think it's one of the sleekest, sexiest cars in existence, but I know I'm not enough of a driver to confidently handle the Reventon Roadster. so I'll leave that to the sheiks and soccer players who think they can.
So here goes:
1. a Henri Chapron DS, either the Concorde or Palm Beach. Sheer unadulterated, yet very high-class, erotica on wheels. Makes a Rolls Drophead look vulgar.
2. a Citroën SM. And I know which one. Unfortunately it's not for sale. :-(
3. my very own Citroën XM 2.1 Turbo Diesel, as the perfect everyday car. At 200k miles, it's only just broken in. Most of us need a spacious, comfortable, reliable car 95% of the time - this is mine.
4. For the other 5% of the time, a Porsche Boxter S - the ultimate roadster for averagely talented drivers like you and me. Not too much power, but also not too much grip so it's still fun, plus it drifts very predictably. Housefly cornering for the masses.
and 5: okay. I give in. The Reventon roadster. If I win the lottery, I can afford to have it just to look at it. ;-)
