The bigger deal with the Fusion Hybrid's 40 mpg rating is its comparison to the Camry Hybrid's "mere" 34 mpg in testing.

If one care's about these things I suppose it would be "exciting" to have more choices and competition in the market. I just see this as a MUCH better option than buying a Prius if mpg is your priority.
