Lamborghini Reventón #3 of 20 on eBay
From the “You Knew It Was Going to Happen Sooner or Later” file comes what looks to be eBay’s first Lamborghini Reventón. Located in California, this 73-mile, one-owner ‘Ton is said to be car #3 of the 20 that Sant’ Agata is planning on turning out, and just one of ten slated for U.S. consumption.
Like other Reventóns, this small-volume model is essentially a Murcielago LP640 kitted out with angular jet-fighter carbon bodywork, a mildly reworked engine (+ 20 brake horsepower, for a total of 660), and a mess of new digital readouts inside. It might not be the fastest supercar on the road, but it looks impossibly sinister, and we love it.
Given the worth and rarity of this car, we're rather underwhelmed with the quality of the auction's presentation (a bunch of "down-on-the-street" -quality images, brief description, etc.) Regardless, the seller is evidently expecting a tidy return on the Reventón’s $1.4 million price tag, as the auction has a “Buy It Now” of $2.5 million. With 15 days left on the auction (as this is written) and a moneyed seller’s location in Silicon Valley, we wouldn’t be terribly surprised to see someone take them up on the offer. We also wouldn't be terribly surprised if the owner received a nastygram from Lamborghini itself, as the company frowns upon its buyers attempting quick-turnaround sales like this.
