Leakage: 2010 Saab 9-5 Images Surface On The Web
We've seen prototypes of the new Saab 9-5 running around for quite some time now. And for a while, we weren't sure what the fate of the new flagship Saab would be what with the automaker being auctioned off from the General Motors stable. But new parent company Koenigsegg seems to be moving forward with Saab's products, and these early shots of the production 9-5 have leaked onto the web.
The 9-5 was desperately in need of a serious update, and by the looks of these photos, the new Saab sedan sports a cleaner, neater nose, better lines, and the sort of proportions to have this car finally be a more worthy competitor in the mid-size luxury sedan market. Will it blow the doors off of a 5-Series or E-Class? Probably not, but at least Saab now has a 9-5 they can be proud of.

It looks good, with nice detailing. I like the guages. But it befuddles me that this appears to be a conventional 4 door sedan with a trunk, especially when BMW is coming out with the GT, Audi is bringing out the A5 5 door hatch, and even Porsche is bringing the Panamera. Saab was ahead of the game in the 80s when they came out with the 9000 with it's large dimensions, useful hatchback body, and sporting character. I hope now that the company is under independent leadership, they can see the merits of bringing forth a hatchback bodystyle.
