Lexus Top, Saab Bottom of Luxury Car Owner Loyalty

Lexus owners are re-upping with the brand at a greater rate than any other luxury car buyers, according to J.D. Power and Associates, who say that the Japanese automaker is outstripping its closest German competition by four percentage points.

During the first quarter of 2008, 48 percent of Lexus owners traded in for another Lexus, beating the excellent 44 percent return rate for BMW buyers. Mercedes-Benz was no slouch in retaining its customers either, holding onto 41.2 percent of buyers. At the other end of the list, Saab managed to lure back only 8.8 percent of its buyers in the first three months of 2008.

lexus(toyota) make some darn good cars. bash it as much as you'd like but they are top notch in quality and are just great luxury cars with 0 problems. They're pretty popular here in NJ/NY area and it seems like the RX is their best selling vehicle.

This is misleading. Lexus has the largest portfolio of types of vehicles and Saab has the smallest. Notice how the other brands in the bottom 4 have the same problem, lack of portfolio breadth. So it's no surprise that people who want to upgrade to a larger or more expensive vehicle don't have any choice but to leave Saab. What really matters is if they buy another GM product.

This is coming from a person who has 2 Saabs and has owned 3, but I'm single so I don't need a family vehicle. There are many die-hard Saab loyalists out there though. And some people buy used cars, so that's not taken into account either.
