Mio Knight Rider GPS

Having recently tested Mio’s new DigiWalker C720t , we were very interested to learn that the GPS experts at Mio would be launching a new product with a Knight Rider theme. The Mio Knight Rider GPS features all of the things we’ve come to expect from Mio—a clean, touch-screen interface, turn-by-turn directions, pre-loaded maps of the United States or Canada, and over four million different points of interest.

This K.I.T.T.-like GPS device features lights along the side of the screen which flash when voice prompts are given. In fact, all voice files were recorded by actor William Daniels who provided the voice of K.I.T.T. from the original Knight Rider show. The GPS includes a database of around 300 male and female names which can be programmed for the system’s opening greeting, “Hello, Michael. Where do you want to go today?”

Mio says that the Knight Rider GPS should retail for around $270 when it goes on sale in a few months. Stay tuned for our full test in the Gear Box section of a future edition of Winding Road.
