I have argued for the past couple of years that the Insight deserved some acknowledgement from the enthusiast community for its potential to becoming a fine sport compact.  The Insight was imbued with a low-drag shape, two-seat layout, low curb weight (1,800 to 1,900 lbs.), and a 5 spd. manual shifter as standard.  Its styling even echoed the Civic CRX.  But Honda's aim of selling the Insight as a fuel miser and not a fun device (which was logical) prevented the Insight from becoming a more respected car among the sport compact scene.  Still, the Insight's superb mileage and limited production run will keep it as an interesting item in auto history.
