Australian Prime Minister says ‘No’ to Ecclestone Night Race Demands
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has reportedly told Formula One’s Bernie Ecclestone that the Victorian state government will not foot the bill for a night race in Melbourne. This news after Ecclestone has repeatedly ramped up the pressure for such a race, in order to secure a more Euro-friendly time slot for the season opening grand prix.
The Daily Mail quoted Ecclestone as saying, “I’ve spoken to Kevin Rudd and he’s told me it would cost too much to re-stage the race, so I guess that’s it. We won’t be going to Australia for too much longer.

“At the moment, it is ridiculous that people are asked not to sleep in order to see it live. That can’t carry on. "
Ummmmmm, ever heard of a DVR? Nobody is holding a gun to their head. Please - there's a few races that don't go with my sleep schedule either but I don't demand that THEY change for ME. I record it, avoid the news, and watch it at my conveinence the same day. No big deal. Bernie is an @$$ and I really wish he would just move on already.

Oh, big deal, the Europeans have to get up a little earlier for some Asian races... Try being a west coast F1 fan, waking up at 4am to watch the European races!
