A passel of stringent penalties, including points deductions, fines, and suspensions, have been handed down in NASCAR following rules violations surrounding last week's racing at Daytona. One Sprint Cup Series team, seven Nationwide Series teams, and two squads from the Craftsman Truck Series have been affected.
Robbie Gordon’s Number 7 Sprint Cup Series team was found guilty of having an unapproved nose cone fitted to the car on the opening day inspection, and has been docked 100 points in the driver and owner standings. Additionally, Gordon’s crew chief Frank Kerr has been suspended for the next six races, fined $100,000, and put on probation for the rest of the season. The violation has dropped Gordon from 9th to 40th place in the driver, and owner standings.

Team and driver will lose 50 points, while crew chief Chad Walter has been fined $25,000, with a matching six-race suspension and probation.
