Schumacher Says Ferrari F2008 Stronger than Last Season’s Car

f2008testhl.jpgOn Monday the 39-year-old Michael Schumacher got a turn at the wheel of Ferrari's 2008 Formula One entry, the F2008, and came away from the drive believing that the Italian has made "clear progress" since last season. The former world champion was on hand in Barcelona to lend his opinion and expertise to the traction control-free F1 car.

Schumacher told reporters that "progress is very clear," when compared to Ferrari's last car, going on to comment, "I feel we are ready and prepared to fight for victory."

The former driver believes that rival team McLaren will prove to be excellent competition for the Maranello squad, after giving Ferrari almost more than they could handle last season. "It will be very interesting," said Schumacher. "You have two contenders as last year, you have some question marks about what they can or they cannot do, so it should be very exciting."

Some of that excitement, especially in the early going, should come because of the new ban on electronic driver aids, which all teams will have to come to grips (but really) with.

Said Schumacher,"It is just that you have to be careful, especially in the morning when it is very slippery, you have to use your brain."
