Unmasking The Stig: Some Say He’s Really a Household Name
Over the past few weeks we’ve reported a few times on the proposed NBC version of the hit British motoring television show, Top Gear. While we’ve spent our time wondering mostly who the host of the show could be, tons of our reader comments tell us that many of you are just as interested in who the U.S. version of The Stig would be.
While we still don’t know the answer to that (sorry for the tease), some new reports are claiming to be able to unmask the original, unnamed test driver.

Comedian Omid Djalili is claiming that the true identity of The Stig is none other than everyone’s favorite McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton. Mr. Djalili is making his outlandish claim based on a revelation he had while speaking with The Stig (presumably while filming Top Gear), who reportedly revealed his age to the comedian. Djalili also states that Top Gear producers told him two years ago, that the eternal man of mystery would be famous by now.
Apparently then, if the comedian’s wild claim is to be believed, Hamilton is no longer playing the role of test driver, but was when Djalili visited. We’re not exactly ready to declare this guy the great unmasker yet, but it is an interesting notion.

I thought it was an open secret that there wasn't really just one Stig, and I think Damon Hill was named once. Heck, I'm pretty sure I read once that Hammond has been in the Stig suit.

Could Lewis Hamilton really fit being the Stig into his schedule? He seems a rather busy fellow.

At one time he might have been the Stig, but I'm pretty sure Jeb is right that there have been multiple Stigs. Plus figuring out the drive by just his age seems a bit odd. I mean how many people in England happen to be the same age as Hamilton.

I don't know, there was a comment made once about how the Stig drives around their track when compared to a F1 driver something along the lines of, "Well maybe the Stig isn't a F1 driver." Yeah I know kind of inconclusive, but still...
I am convinced that it is Jason Plato. I believe he and Clarkson actually have a good relationship and Plato has done some driving on the older Top Gear shows.

I don't wanna know who he is, dammit! I find the mystery far more entertaining, as well as the idea that the stig is nothing more than some sort of car-testing appliance.
However, I am a bit curious who the "Big Stig" was from the 3rd ep of season 9.
I used to think it might be Tiff Needell, but that was long before I found out he'd moved to Fifth Gear.
