New BMW M3 CSL by 2010?
New reports out of Germany speculate that BMW may be on the verge of offering its first M3 CSL since 2004.
The high performance, lightweight car with a distinct track bias is said to save around 100 kilograms over the stock M3, making extensive use of both carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastic to shed a few pounds. The car is also expected to get a totally reworked suspension, stickier tires as standard, and engine revisions that could net as much as 50 horsepower. This rise in power should lead to 0 to 62 mph times of around 4.5 seconds, as well as reported Nürburgring laps of around 7:45.
Expect the newest CSL to run well into the six figure territory for asking price, and to sell in limited runs of a few thousand or less.

I think realistically, it will be quite a bit quicker than 4.5 to 62mph. Judging that mags like R&T have pulled 4.1 to 60mph in the stock M3, I could see 4.0 easily to 62mph.
I can tell you never had a chance to drive the previous M3 CSL, because if you had you would understand why one should be excited about this car. In fact my only complaint about the new M3 is that its too soft and friendly for an M3, so I am very excited to see if the CSL can correct this :)
