New Images of 'Baby' Rolls-Royce RR4 Spied!
Parent company BMW is progressing quite nicely with plans for the newest, and smallest, member of the Rolls-Royce line, known for now as the RR4.
This new package of spy shots shows the Rolls in what would appear to be near-production trim, disguised only by some slim body wrapping, and cowls over the head taillights. The RR4 seems to be getting a version of the rear-opening suicide doors from the Phantom, a feature that had only been hinted at until now.
Riding on the same platform as the long wheel base BMW 7-Series, the RR4 would appear to be sized – and likely priced – to compete head on with the popular Bentley Continental. Rolls-Royce is hoping for Bentley like sales numbers as well, with goals of selling around 1000 per year after the car launches in 2010. The “baby” Rolls Royce is showing some new details as these new spy shots reveal. The RR4 is based on a long wheel base platform from the new BMW 7 and is planned to be out on the market in 2010.
Some parts will be shared with the BMW 7, but engine is likely to be an own version. In these photos we can clearly see the rear opening suicide doors as known from the Phantom as well as more details from the body overall.
With the RR4, Rolls-Royce is clearly targeting the Bentley Continental, both in price and size. The Continental has been a big success and Rolls Royce, aka BMW, is hoping that the RR4 will be a success as well. With sale goals around 1000 cars each year, Rolls Royce will almost double the production with this new model.

To keep sales down to 1000, the price will have to be higher than the Continental. I'd guess over $200k. That's consistent with the brand.

I know it's covered, but I imagine it'll still be as ugly as the other Rolls. The only postwar English lavish limo I ever liked was the ole two-door Bentley Continental, and the Mk. V saloon to some degree.

These cars are heavy enough to tow 5th wheels. LOL!
