New Mini MPV Coming From Kia?
The mini MPV class is one that is becoming increasingly popular in Europe, with vehicles like the Opel Meriva and Volkswagen Golf Plus garnering more eyeballs than ever before. Now it seems as if Kia wants in on the game, as these spy pictures have just been grabbed of a brand new small hauler from the Korean automaker.
Said to be based on its small European five-door the Cee’d, this MPV prototype appears to have two rows of seating in the back with quite a small exterior footprint. The MPV will likely share its platform mate’s range of two four-cylinder gasoline engines, and three diesel burners including a range-topping 2.0-liter CRDi unit. This tester was also spotted with a panoramic glass roof, which will probably slot in as optional equipment on the model.
Nothing is yet known about the production time table on the new small Kia, but we can’t help but wonder if the rapidly changing world of the U.S. motoring landscape would allow for such an entry in the near future? Scroll down to read the shooter’s words and then give us your opinion, in comments.
Is Kia looking to join Opel Meriva and company in the mini MPV class? Well after spotting this Kia prototype it could actually be that way. Based on the Cee´d this would be a version for the bigger family or for those who think that the Cee´d wagon is too small.
The mini MPV is also a class that is reaching more and more buyers especially in Europe. But with the rising fuel prices, it could also be a success in USA. This prototype spotted while doing brake tests in the Alps, also had a panoramic glass roof that probably will be an option. Expect the engine options to be the same as known from the Cee´d.
