Honda has revealed the updated version of its popular small car, the 2009 Fit, here at the New York Auto Show.

New for the 2009 model year in Honda’s tiniest U.S. entry is a satellite navigation system with voice-recognition software, an MP3-friendly USB port, and revised multi-positional rear chairs that the company calls “Magic Seats.

Note that the "multi-positional rear chairs that the company calls Magic Seats" are not new for 2009 but are a key feature of the old model that continues over, al beit with some revision.

If anyone has any doubts about driving a small-engined car with an automatic, drive this one with the paddle shifters. We have an '07 Sport auto and this thing is a hoot to drive. If may not be the fastest car on the road but it has no problem keeping up with traffic. If you need to wind it out it makes those sweet Honda high-rev sounds and just keeps on pulling.

The '09 updates addressed all but one of the short-comings (very few) I have with the '07...namely drum brakes in the rear.

I wonder what the horsepower for the 1.5 actually is...I remember reading that the electronic throttle basically isn't linear and opens fully anytime the throttle pedal is pressed past a certain point (not just to the floor), which helps it feel friskier. I've always wanted to try one out, but I have yet to see one at a dealership that wasn't already sold.

Yeah it's not the fastest car out there, but it is super responsive due to the electronic throttle control. The electric power steering also gives the car an incredibly nice feeling of control when taking corners! Adding wider tires + intake + exhaust has made my fit an awesomely fun vehicle to drive! Good call, Garfield. I often forget about the Fit but it's one of the best driving small cars out there.

Looks good. A huge improvement over the awkward looking current Fit.

If I can get a fully loaded (nav, paddles, sunroof) for under $25k in Canada, I'm sold.

BTW, does it have a sunroof option? The last one didn't.

Forget the test drive. Never heard anyone who didn't enjoy driving one. Hooray for stability control availability. Now I can buy and let my teenager drive it in the rough winter conditions here, albeit with good winter rubber. And ANY interior is better than the current Civic: Depressing that is, says Yoda.

We LOVE our 2006 Honda FIT! I am a ski coach and our FIT hauls a ton of gear!

Our FIT is fantastic in snow. I had to drive in blizzard conditions twice this winter and the little car was amazing! The NEW version will be even better with the added Electronic Stability Control.

I'll place an order as soon as my local dealer is ready to take orders.
