The Bitter SC was a rare, sleeper of a semi-exotic even when it was new in 1982, and twenty-five years on it has almost slipped through the cracks of history. With only 433 of this model produced, and only a small fraction of those ever sent to the U.S., the German Bitter was far more exclusive than its pedestrian Opel Senator running gear would suggest. The car’s 3.0-liter 177 horsepower inline-six may not set the pavement on fire, but the SC’s understated good looks and plush (though crackly) Italian leather interior would seem to offset the lack of outright performance.
