Who Needs a Sports Car? Porsche Builds Cayenne Number 200,000
Defying its detractors is what Porsche’s Cayenne SUV has done for most of its nearly five years of existence, and with number 200,000 rolling off the line, it will be harder than ever to describe the vehicle as anything less than a resounding success.
Cayenne number 200,000, a red GTS, came off its production line in Leipzig, Germany to cheers of praise from factory workers, before it headed off to its new home with a customer in the Middle East.

Porsche has achieved unparalleled success since it introduced the Cayenne line in 2003, and the vehicle is largely responsible for the record profits the automaker achieved this past year. Despite the uproar in the Porsche enthusiast community when the SUV was first announced, the German company has had a virtually nonstop supply of customers for the Cayenne, especially in North America.
