Unless the economy turns around in a big way I see this as a niche car. People will by it because it is unique. I drive a Honda Civic hybrid and the only thing I would gain would be electric to and from work. With the influx of lower end electrics if I REALLY want to just commute on electric, I'll buy electric.

The Volt will be a limited production car. You're not going to see a lot of them anyways. $32,500 is not too much to ask for. I'd pay that.

So: Who lives in a house in the towns where this would save all the gas during rush hour(s)? How you going to plug it in with a Post-American Dream apartment?

We need this, but no one talks about the percentage of Americans whom don't have a garage . . .

I agree with many of the other posters. The price point on this car is way out of line with what GM should be trying to accomplish - create an offering that appeals to a higher percentage of the buying public. There should be no reason why they cannot create this car and offer it at $30,000 tops. Frankly, that is higher than I would pay without a rebate, but the rebate would put it at a reasonable price point.

My personal opinion is GM is getting too greedy. For my money I wish the Aptera would get launched already. What a great vehicle, but they can't seem to get to production levels, and only in CA. The driving public is thirsty for something that can be used to get around to the store, work, other short trips and put it at a price that everyone would want it and could afford it. There is nothing wrong with making your money on the basis of volume. 

GM has completely missed the mark, and the point, IMHO.
