Spy Shot: Lamborghini’s Enzo Rival Ultra-Car Spotted!

With longtime rival Ferrari already starting work on the successor to its Enzo supercar, and exotic builders McLaren, Aston Martin, and Mercedes-Benz AMG all preparing to offer ultra-cars of their own, Automobili Lamborghini has decided to get a little more skin in the game.

Thus begins the project of building the new mega supercar for Lamborghini, a model rumored to be named Jota for now. Housed in the body of this Murcielago is the running gear for the beast, complete with a direct-injection, 6.0-liter V-12 said to be capable of delivering at least 700 horsepower to all four wheels—not a bad place to start. It’s clear that the new Lamborghini will be considerably wider than the Murcielago, as evidenced by the pulled and mutilated mule body seen here, with the new car most likely being built on an aluminum space frame rather than the more conventional steel tub.

It’s a good bet that the new car will take certain styling cues from the recent Reventon, and that the car’s body will be made in large measure from ultra light carbon fiber—though our shooter speculates that the roof and doors will still be aluminum.

As if this new car weren’t news enough in of itself, we’re told that an even more extreme version of the Lambo may also be planned, one with more power that utilizes rear-wheel-drive only. Lord, have mercy on our souls. Scroll down below to read the shooter’s own words.

The war of the supercars is on. Today we snapped the first signs of the new Lamborghini supercar that will come after the Murcielago, and here is the first mule.

With Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin and Mercedes AMG all working on new supercars, there is no reason for Lamborghini to rest and therefore the testing has begun. Hidden under this, especially in the front, wider Murcielago body is the new future Lamborghini supercar. This new Lambo, maybe dubbed to Jota, will according to rumors switch to an aluminum space frame instead of the current steel tub frame.

Engine will probably be a 6.0 liter V12 with direct injection delivering about 700 horsepower to all of the four wheels. There might be a super version later on with just rear wheel drive as well.

Body will take some influence from the Reventon, and most body parts will be made of carbon fiber. Roof and doors will probably be made from aluminum.
