Spy Shots: Buick Small Car to Share Platform with Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra
Take a close look. That little thing is (probably) a Buick.
This small front-wheel drive sedan will share a platform with the Chevrolet Cruze and the Opel Astra. It should head to the U.S. and China in 2012, with a possibility of entering the European market, as it may be built in Germany.
The small Buick sedan marks an important step in the automaker becoming a more global brand.
Our spy shooter also mentions rumors of the possibility of the Buick getting the Chevy Volt technology.

Here are the first spyphotos of the new baby Buick based on the Delta II platform known from the Chevrolet Cruze and the upcoming new Opel Astra. The new FWD Buick will mainly target the US and Chinese market, but could also be offered in Europe since it probably will be built at Opels plant in Rüsselsheim/Germany.
This could be some kind of compensation since both the new SAAB 9-5 and upcoming 9-3 will be built in Trollhättan/Sweden instead of the Opel plant.
We expect the engine options to be the same as the Cruze, and the rumors are also talking about the possibility to get the Volt technology in the baby Buick as well.
The new small sedan is not expected to hit the show rooms until 2012, but it will help to move Buick further toward its goal of becoming a more global brand. The new Buick Lacrosse is the first step in that direction, sharing a platform with the Opel Insignia and the new SAAB 9-5.
