Spy Shots: Lexus LF-A Returns! Naked Prototype Spotted at the Nürburgring

It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything new regarding the efforts by Lexus to bring its near-supercar LF-A to production—leading many to speculate that the project had been put on the shelf because of worldwide economic instability. So you can imagine our surprise and delight when we awoke this morning to find brand new spy shots of the car gracing our inbox. Even better, the photographs show an LF-A wearing basically no camouflage whatsoever. Game on.

To refresh your memories, the LF-A is a “front mid-engined” monster of a thing, reportedly making use of a 550-plus horsepower, 4.8-liter V-10 engine, and capable of lapping the Nürburgring in times that could shame a Porsche GT2. We also find this new example to be rather comely, albeit in a rounded-corners, Lexus-style supercar way, despite the fact that it’s been painted form-hiding white.

Take a close look at the naked LF-A in our gallery above, and then wax excited about the return of the super Lexus in our comments section below.

We keep getting tuurned around by toyota with its wishy washy car decisions.  First they had all these performance cars ready to go, then they cancel them to make daily drivers, but now they have bring back the fastest one of all.  Has toyta gone soft making appliance cars or hasn't it?

I would rather see a line of cheaper performance cars than a single expensive one.

Looks like the return (and improvement) of the Supra. Though, I'd rather see a return of light-weight performance cars. I'd love to see a rear-drive Celica with 150-200hp. Heck, I'd like to see the Cressida RWD wagon return!
