Spy Shots: Saab 9-5 Out of the Cold and Onto the ‘Ring
We’ve seen the Saab 9-5 mule during winter testing, but here it is again, now lapping the Nürburgring. We want to assume this points to a performance-oriented car that is still on a timeline to debut at the Frankfurt show in September.
Expect the new 9-5 to take on the likes of the BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6.

We have seen plenty of spy shots of the new SAAB 9-5 during winter testing. But now it’s time for some serious hi-speed testing at the Nürburgring in Germany. The new 9-5 will be a large car, with a length close to five meters, and it’s aiming against the BMW 5-series, Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6. The fact that they are testing on the “Ring” confirms that SAAB are keen to develop a “drivers” car.
These prototypes where running the 210 horsepower strong engine connected to both manual and automatic gearbox.
Let’s just hope that SAAB will have a bright future with their new, well, hopefully new owners and that they don’t delay the presentation of this next generation 9-5. Its due for the Frankfurt Car Show in September if all goes according to plans.

I truly hope that this new Saab helps return the company to the iconoclastic and positive image they once earned. The GM years have been marked by dull, diluted, aimless cars with just enough Saab-ness painted on that the mark was not lost entirely.
But quirky needs to be added to excellence, not substituted for it. And BMW, MB, Audi and now Lexus all pour far more money in to their designs, resulting in a level of sophistication and performance that completely overshadows Saab's recent products. In their heyday, the cost of performance was modest enough to allow a low-volume company to compete. Today, that is no longer the case. Economics will help predict that this new model will likely be another step towards their demise.
I surely hope I'm wrong though. I loved my buddy's 99, really liked my 900, respected my 9000S but have bid them goodbye. If they can step up their game, I'll be happy to stick my key between the seats. OTOH, if they are actually competitive, it will be a 'Start' button.

saab is dead and GM killed it years ago by trying to make it a world car... my 2004 9/5 was the worst car i ever owned. 5 abs units 2 throtttle bodies, new valves and clutch all this happened under 50k... gm still sucks, they deserve to go under screw the uaw.

Im 18 years old and as a struggling student who enjoys racing UGG
Boots ultra short Le its becoming extremely expensive and harder to
